Great way to spend your day. Gift shop is very nice.
Very cool spot to visit and there is tons of information provided by the knowledgable staff. Very well-kept and clean as well. Should also note that students at MUN get in free.
If you are s rock geek, this is a must see! Enjoyed reading the geological history of Newfoundland!
Visited this as a rainy day activity. There's a couple of exhibits on entry, one is a Titanic exhibit that is quite long and informative for those that would like a more information then what is commonly told in the stories in popular culture. The other exhibit at the beginning is of the oil and gas industry. They're pumping the oil companies up a bit but if you can get past that it's a very informative exhibit, albeit it needs some updating. The Geological part of the center (reason for visiting) is fairly informative with some great samples from around the province. It seems like a great educational tool for kids especially. However if you spent too much time on the first two exhibits it might be hard to keep the kids interested in this part. This too could use some updating. On leaving the centre we had hoped to pick up a geological map of the Island in the gift shop, sadly there was none to be had. We mentioned that it would be a good idea to sell them and the staff said they didn't even know where to find one.
Well done and enlightening considering that the subject material is usually considered quite dull.
