Our trip to Raymond's was amazing! We did the 5 course tasting with the wine pairing and we were not disappointed in the least. The food tasted great and the wine was an essential part of the meal. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and treated us with some very interesting facts about each wine that was served. I recommend this restaurant and feel that it was an awesome experience in dining.
Had the 3 course meal, chose the foraged pasta appetizer, lamb main, and corn dessert, preceded by cheese and charcuterie boards. The house cured charcuterie, especially the moose, kicked things off and each following dish was better than the last. Cocktails, particularly the Raymond 95, were excellent. I'm not much of a wine guy so I can't really speak to that side of things.Wait staff was pleasant and attentive without being overbearing, the atmosphere was very welcoming and not stuffy. Portions on the boards and the meal alike were spot on, even generous. I came hungry as a big eater and left fully satisfied. I came to Raymond's with big expectations, they lived up to their reputation.
Had an amazing meal here! Came here because Anthony Bourdain dined here during his last trip to Canada. It is the nicest restaurant Ive seen in St Johns. I did the 7 course menu because I wanted to try everything they had to offer. The portions were small, which I didnt mind because I dont eat a lot. The bread wasnt very good. The razor clams were very fresh. The pasta dish was probably my favourite. It also came with 2 fish dishes, which I didnt really enjoy as much as I enjoyed the duck. And the set dessert was a strawberry one, which I switched out for a chocolate one. So Im glad they were able to accommodate me. The service was fabulous and what youd expect at a fine dining setting. I highly recommend locals and tourists to dine here.
We recently had the pleasure of dining at Raymonds. Service was excellent. Menu was very interesting although I suggest you check it out if u are going with someone who has specific likes and dislikes. It is a true dining experience featuring the best of Newfoundland. I appreciated we could do 1 5 course and 1 3 course meal at the same table. Dining room is lovely and welcoming. Go if u have a chance
One of my most memorable dining experiences. Fresh, local ingredients expertly prepared and beautifully presented. Staff combined Newfoundland hospitality with top-notch meal service that was neither too uptight nor too casual. Wine pairings were simply incredible the Annapolis valley was well represented in the 7 course tasting menu, and there were a couple of really interesting Italian varietals that stood out for me, as well. All of that said, this restaurant is shockingly expensive, and the portions are a little small. Still well worth it for a restaurant of this caliber.
